Kinwald, Easton, Pavidis, Francis, Baker, Amezcua, the list goes on. The rockstars of the hobby were racing off road, and much like Ford vs. Chevy, you had your allegiance to Associated or Losi. Every race was critical for sales, advertising space, and bragging rights. The RC10 B2/B3 was Associated's latest and greatest, while Team Losi had their all-conquering XX & XXX buggies. Every month I'd grab the latest RC Car Action and read the latest in the arms war that was 1/10th Buggy. On-Road was amazing during this time, with the advent of touring car racing, and while many of the stars of the day would cross over to On-Road, the rock & roll side of the hobby was in the dirt, not in the parking lot.
Fast forward to 2017, and the buggy wars are back again, now with more players than ever. Not a bad time to finally give Off road a go. I've always been an Associated guy, so the B6D was a no-brainier for me. With the car only being released to the public a little more than 6 months ago, updates and developments to setups are still fresh and on-going, which is fun to follow. Car design has come a long way in the last 3 years, let alone 15. The design of the B6D reflects the track designs today; high grip clay & blue groove dirt. Should be a lot of fun.
I'll be heading to TRCR this Thursday to give the car a shakedown and start my Off Road program. After 20 years of watching and following, I'm so stoked to finally be able to have the time and budget to give buggies a proper go. Time to put tires in the dirt and a smile on my face. BRAAAPP.
